Weight Gain

Ok, my plan was NOT to gain weight the first 3 months... but I have. (especially with christmas cookies...) About 10 pounds. I feel terrible about it. Has anyone else gained this much?

i haven't yet (i'm not three months in yet either ) but a close friend gained 15 lbs pretty much right away. her baby is 5 months now and she is pretty close to pre-pg weight already. i'd say don't worry, eat healthy and ride it out--the babe may need those extra calories in the months to come!

Don't worry! I can't tell from your siggy, but have you been pregnant before? Everyone of mine has been almost the same weight gain wise. Gain almost nothing until about 20 weeks and then gain 10-15 lbs between then and 30ish weeks and then gain 20 pounds the next weeks....and nada until birth for a total of around 30-35 lbs. The first time it was upsetting to my provider, because he was really concerned that I wasn't eating properly, but the next time...we just figured out this is how I do it. I expect it will be the same this time!

Eat healthy as you possibly can--esp in the first tri feeling ooky--and your body will do what it needs to do!

I really think there is just too much emphasis on weight gain. Like we need one more thing to micromanage and stress over. I say if you gain it you probably need to, and try to relax. I am just going to be eating well, and exercising, and I will gain what I gain.

Ugh, I am gaining much faster than I did with my daughter. At 9 weeks, I've already gained 6.5 pounds.

It's the holidays. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

i totally agree with you!!! When i was pregnant with DD i needed to gain that extra weight.....with this pregnancy im starting out at more of a normal weight which i think is why im maintaining my weight better! :

I have no clue how much weight I have gained although I am sure that I have gained a little. It all seems to be in my tummy and boobs.

With my first pregnancy, I gained almost 10 pounds in the first trimester. Ended up gaining about 30 pounds overall, so I don't necessarily think "extra" weight gain in the 1st 3 mos. indicates what total weight gain will be.

This time around, I've gained maybe 3 pounds so far (and started out at essentially the same weight as I did the first time around). And have almost no pregnancy symptoms, which feels so weird, since first time around I had plenty of morning sickness by this point!

Bottom line - every woman (and pregnancy) is different, so no worries!!!!

I haven't gained any weight so far - I've actually lost 2 lbs (I'm 9w2d). With DS I gained 8 lbs my first trimester, for a grand total of 38lbs (30 of it was gone by 2wpp). I watch my weight but mostly out of curiosity. I'll gain what I need to.

I'm at 10w/4d. I've lost 2 lbs at this point which has surprised me since I feel like my boobs are bigger and my belly looser. The nausea is basically all gone, just some food aversions left (like tofu and cheese) but I'm starting to be hungry more often. This is my first time so we'll see. It's interesting to read about everyone else's experiences, very helpful, thanks.

This is very reassuring to me. I am almost 7 weeks and have gained 5-6 lbs already.
