Anyone want to try Flylady for 31 days with me? - Page 2

I'm in too!! I just started on my own again, then came across the beginnings of this thread in sahm area. Boy do I miss how my house looked when I was consistantly using her system!! I don't mind the emails - I just read the subject line and delete. Hope fully I won't fall off the wagon with others doing it too!

I'll do it! I was on a roll more than a year ago, had long since ditched the e-mails and had my daily/weekly routines and control journal (binder)...then...fell off the wagon.

I'd already dug out my binder today, then came across this thread.

Yea to us!

I need to get back on the plan. I start classes the 16th and won't be getting home until 8:30-9pm but I think I can manage to do a 15 minute routine..

I hate the emails. no emails for me.

I just can't keep my sink dry! Or dishes out of it! The moment I do the dishes, clean out the sink, make it all pretty and shiny, DP goes and eats a PB&J sandwich and tosses a sticky knife in the sink.
Well, concerning this sink issue - you only shine your sink at night (is my understanding). The point is to get up to a clean sink in the morning.

My sink never really looks nice because it's not stainless steel plus it's old and all scratched up. I go for a clean and empty sink.

Oh, anyway, sign me up! I actually started on my own and tomorrow will be day 9 for me. I imagine those of us who already started the month of baby steps will just continue on where we are.

I've never done flylady before but I am very motivated....OK, not overly motivated, but I'm sticking to the plan so far

Every thread about flylady has people complaining about all the e-mails. Although I can see where it would be annoying you can sign up for less e-mails and also you can use your delete button.

When you first read the intro thing for people just starting out, she tells you not to pay any attention to all the e-mails and to just delete them. Then on day 4, or something, she tells you to set the timer for 2 minutes and read some of the e-mails, then delete the rest. To me this is reasonable. Also, none of the e-mails need to be opened. The reminder is in the subject line. I just click delete or "mark as read" and it goes away.
I figure they're there if I need them and if not I delete them and forget it. Maybe there will come a time that I won't want any or I might want fewer, but right now it keeps me on track. I feel like someone is standing over me, and that is what I need.

I'm waiting to get a timer because I am not so sure that I will end up using one. I'm waiting to see. So far I have not used one. Obviously I have a kitchen timer but it is too loud and my dd doesn't like it, so I am not going to go around setting it for 2 and 5 min. all over the house.

These baby steps are working for me because I could have never gotten myself to just jump in to any program - ever....OK, well at least not for more than a day.

I'm excited about this thread

Oh, I forgot - This going to bed at a decent hour is going to be a real problem for me. We'll see if I end up changing my ways. Right this second I am only mildly interested in going to bed before midnight.

We unschool, so we do whatever we want. DD and I are both night owls, but it has gotten carried away lately and I would benefit from starting my day before the afternoon : Also, if I went to bed before midnight I would have to get dd to do the same and she just started staying up super late a few days ago and is all excited about it.
Also, staying up late has always been the only time I have to myself - we'll see how it goes.

Well I did it LOL Although I won't get to wake up to a clean sink as DH puts his cereal bowl in there in the morning

Day 2 done. I feel productive already. Probably doesn't help that we didn't get up until 11 though

I decided to join you and was quite inspired. My kitchen counters are now spotless as well as the sink and I will tackle the island and kitchen table later. I also gave my bathroom a really deep clean as I figured I couldn't do day 2 without it. The job that took the longest this morning was brushing my long wavy hair that has a tendency to accumulate rats nests at night even though I braid it. I usually leave it til I am well awake and ready to leave the house for good. Can't do the lace up shoe thing. I am in and out of the house too often as we live in the country and all my lace up shoes are outside shoes. We usually don't wear shoes in the house but I have just designate a new pair of slip on shoes as my inside shoes to solve my problem.

I'm in! I started right after Christmas. I haven't been doing all the baby steps or reading all the e-mails. I've gotten into a nighttime routine (Flylady has an example of hers on the site) where I do all the dishes, wipe the counters, sweep, wipe down the table and fix the pillows/cover on the couch. I love waking up to a clean house in the morning! It's so much easier to keep it clean, too, when it starts out clean.

I'm trying to keep up with my morning routine, but I don't always shower or get dressed everyday. : I have been decluttering for at least 15 min a day, though! I took tons of stuff to the thrift store and kid's consignment shop yesterday!

To keep the sink clean during the day, I took a dish pan, put it *under* the sink and have instructed that all dirty dishes go there. When it gets full, I do them all. I've acually only been having to do them once a day, either after diner or right before bed.
I too, don't worry about keeping the sink shining. My sink is old and scratched. I go for keeping it clean and empty.

Anyways, I'm in! Subbing to this thread.

Ya well, from the sounds of you last two posters you are way ahead of the game anyway. All this cleaning right off the bat - wow!

Are there any others on here, like me, who are only doing the baby steps as they come each day because you will probably fail if you try to do too much more?

I don't even do my dishes before bed. I do what I need to do just to clear out the sink and make it clean

Hooray hooray!! I am SO glad I followed this moved thread... I didn't even ever GET to this forum! I am SO in need of a Fly Lady club! I found her site, book marked it, cleaned my sink, and have steadfastly gotten dressed (not to the shoes, because we don't wear shoes in our house) every morning, but stopped there, and never went back. I'm in I'm in I'm IN!!
