pants pattern

I want to make some interlock pants (in the same vein as the Woolyspuds on HC) but I'd like a pattern because I'm not that experienced a seamstress to just wing it. Do you think this would work?

It looks like it would work, but I personally don't like tapered pants. They really are easy to make. I taught myself to sew, and have made these very easily. Not spamming, just showing the pics. I just took a pair of pants that fit DD, folded them in half, and traced the outline onto the interlock. Just leave about a half inch for seam allowance. Be sure to leave more of an allowance at the top of the pants, so you can fold down and add elastic. It's very easy.

My favorite, favorite patterns for kids are Kwik Sew for Toddlers. They also have a Kwik Sew for Babies. They can be traced easily to use over and over again as your child grows. They are also cut a bit more fully, so they fit well over cloth diapers. Also have lots of good tips for sewing with knits, etc.

I am a seamstress of children's clothing by trade and I think the pattern you chose looks fine. If you are diapering with cloth, you will want to look at the crotch and belly to make sure the pattern is roomy enough. I think flared or widened legs are really stylish these days, but not necessary for undergarment layers which you may want to be more fitted like leggings. The slightly flared, embroidered pant you found that you like from Holland, (which by the way is soo cute!) is easy to make from your found pattern if you gradually widen the leg from the knee area down to the cuff about an inch on both the inside and outside on both front and back pattern pieces. I also noticed that the pattern you found was for a lined/reversible pant which would be two layers and twice as much fabric as a single layer pant. It also looks like it would be longer than your child's actual leg length, so that you can fold the cuff over and see the reverse fabric on the inside. If you are making a single layer pant you won't need to fold it up like that and could fold up the excess into a wider cuff instead. If you intend to embroider or applique a design onto the pants, I recommend that you do it before you sew it together. It will be much easier. And measure your child's belly/waist before you put the elastic in to make sure it will fit properly and have room to grow. Good Luck! Pants are a good place to start sewing.

I found a link on the MDC forum...somewhere...that was for patterns of all sorts and lots for free. I thought I saved it on my favorites, but I can't find it. Maybe if you search for free patterns or diapering patterns or something like that you can find some more patterns if you like.

I found the site with the free patterns under my personal profile. Here it is.
