Growing little brains are amazing!!

Every day, I find myself in awe of the jumps Luna Blue is making in her development. Some days, it seems as if she practices and masters several different skills between dawn and dusk. Other days, she seems to still sleep the day away.

Yesterday was a "lots of learning" day. In the morning, I had her sitting up on the bed and I put a variety of sizes and colors of puff balls (pom poms) in front of her. For close to an hour, she practiced using her pincher grasp and would grab at the puffies and hold them, throw them, pick them up again. It was so cute to see her concentrating, focusing and really reaching out to grab onto them.

Later on, as I cleaned the kitchen, I set her on a quilt on the floor (with a boppy behind her in case she tipped) and gave her a few small plastic cups, a wooden honey dipper and a small stainless bowl. Within minutes, she was grabbing for the cups and banging them onto the bowl and squealing at the noises she was making. Her big smile of pride after making especially noisy clanging was heart warming.

Babies are just miracles. I am so thankful I can be home with her every day to witness the skills she masters. I would hate to miss a thing!

Another funny thing she did yesterday... Since she was born, I have often held her near one of our windows that has a bird feeder right outside of it. She looooooves to watch the birds, especially the chickadees. I talk to her and tell her "Pretty birdies... Chickadee-dee-dee." and sometimes whistle the chickadee song. Well, as she was sitting in the kitchen, I happened to whistle the chickadee song to her and she immediately craned her neck around and looked towards the window where the birdfeeder is. Her little brain recognized the song and what it meant and wanted to see if the birdies were on the feeder. Awwww....

How is your little babe learning and growing? Share some of those great moments!

Well, he's gnawing on my empty snack plate right now.

When Nate is upset and tired before bed at night, the only song that helps is the ABC's with sign language. Funny guy.

Otherwise his new thing is grabbing at my cheeks or my face..hard!

Oh yea - Louis does that, too. I can't tell you how many times a day I have to pry his cute little fingers off my cheeks and lips while whimpering, "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow...."

Us too....

Today Kienan wouldn't nap so I put him in the carrier and went into the living room. Usually when I do that I do an excercise dvd and DD jumps up and "boo's" him. So he saw her out of the corner of his eye, she was just walking by and he got so excited, shock his hands in excitement and started cracking up, all on the anticipation that she would play with him

Nate has been using a pincer grasp to pick things up recently. But then once he gets an object he grabs it with the other fist and shoves whatever it is into his mouth.

They are too much fun aren't they? Ian seems like he's a totally different baby the past couple weeks. He's always been a smiley guy and will smirk at people too, but lately he's been cracking up with these full belly laughs. You really have to be patient, if he thinks you're expecting it, he won't do it. He also knows that we always nurse on the couch. A week or so ago, I was going to change his diaper before I fed him since I new he was going to fall asleep. We were walking toward the couch, but have to go past it to his room to change him. As soon as we were past the couch, he gave me the biggest pouty lippy look and started to cry like I really hurt his feelings. When we got to his bedroom he started screaming. I felt sooo bad. But at the same time I was really amazed at his understanding and him expressing himself.
