A weird contraction

So last night I had contractions that were keeping me up. Well sometime around 4 in the morning I woke up moaning... it took me a minute to realize that it was a bad contraction that woke me up... ( I have been contracting all weekend... regularly.)

Anyways... I kept breathing through it... It lasted more than 10 minutes. I know that sounds so weird... but I asked dh what time it was when he woke up at the time I did and he told me 3. I ended up getting up and trying to walk around. It didn't do anything. And so finally when I went back to bed and it started to subside I asked him what time it was again and he told me 3:12.

It truly lasted that long... It was really painful and my abdomen was completely hard that whole time... I was starting to worry about the baby during the whole thing. Although after it finally went away she moved around like normal.

Should I call the midwife?? Is it something that I should be worried about?? I am still having contractions about 10 minutes apart this morning. But I just don't know if I should shrug that off or not.

IMO it wouldnt hurt to call and ask her about it. It was probably nothing to worry about especially since the baby is moving well now. But just to ease your mind go ahead and call.

Ugh, that sounds a bit scary (and frustrating!)...I have no idea whether that's normal or not (since this is my first go at the motherhood thing), but if it were me, I would call and mention it to your mw just to put your mind at ease, and also to make sure that she has all the information she needs to monitor your progress and figure out how to proceed...it's probably fine, but I err on the side of information overload - I figure it's up to the professional to decide what matters and what doesn't.
