funny birth control thing

i would be devastated if i got pg in the next 18 months... despite exclusive breastfeeding, knowing my cycle well, using condoms & only dtd once in a blue moon these days, after thinking long & hard about it, i've decided to go on the mini pill.

now for the funny part...

you know how drug companies give bc pills women's names to make them sound friendly & familiar? the pill my nurse practitioner prescribed is called Errin.

Guess what the name of the love of our lives who prevents us from dtd more often is?! (only we spell it Erin) :

So, you've got Erin birth control times two? Okay, that's just funny.

I'm sure there's someone out there using it with a little girl named Mirena or Mirina or something.

Too stinking funny! You know that after 6m the minipill is not as likely to work - right? I think that's good to know since not many people are aware of that and if you REALLY don't want to get pg... it'd be important!

That is too funny!

Just a word of warning. My good friend went on the mini-pill and her milk supply dropped drastically. She's very conservative about nip, so pumps and gives her ds a bottle when she's out and as soon as she started the mini-pill, her supply dropped really bad. She stopped after a couple days and it came back.

I think this happens on any hormonal contraception. I went on the Ortho-Evra patch (before I knew about the blood clots deaths associated with it!), at 5 months pp after A.J. was born because I couldn't face another baby right on the heels of him. It worked great except my milk supply definitely dropped. During the first week of the month it rebounded, and the second week when I put the patch back on it was okay, but the third week it would get really low, and by the last week I'd feel like I had very little to offer him , but he was soooo chubby he did fine. But I still felt bad. Also, it gave me HORRIBLE morning sickness for 12 hours the second day after putting the patch back on after my period.
Anyhow, I wouldn't recommend it!

Yes - I was on Errin and I'm due in Feb. DD was 30 months and not nursing much at all and I was forgetting to take it at the same time everyday...

but ortho-evra patch is a combo estrogen & progesterone & the mini-pill is just prog (@ a lower dose)... that's why the mini pill isn't as effective & must be taken @ the exact same time each day, but shouldn't effect milk supply
