I'm so happy to share with you the news of the birth of our new baby girl. Sophie Marin was born on Saturday, January 6th (her due date) at 1:52 in the afternoon. She entered the world underwater in a birthing tub at the hospital here in Burlington, VT after an amazing, wonderful (and relatively quick) labor journey that lasted just under 10 hours. The combination of hypnobirthing, laboring in water, and having an incredible support team including our awesome doula made the experience such a joy. Sophie weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and measured 20 inches long, and she's sporting soft brown hair and some of the longest fingers and toes we've ever seen on a newborn. And so far she's showing signs of a very mellow, sweet and confident personality. We're in love!
I'll write more when I get my bearings. DH wrote up a nice summary of our birth story and I'll tweak that a bit and post it soon.
