Here's a link from Kellymom.com on caffeine

Good luck!!!

I usually drink one black coffee a day- we drink turkish coffee, dont know how that compares in the caffeen level, and its usually one strong small cup of coffee, like an espresso I guess....I've had coffee fairly regularly through my role as milk provider and while I notice a difference if I drink TWO cups, the one seems to be okay, or maybe I'm just used to it and so is DD!! I also eat a bit of dark chocolate everyday...I dunno, I think its okay and its something I savor, as well as something that gives me the *bling* I'm sometimes lackign after a rough night....but I would be interested in hearing more ofthe arguements AGAINST caffine in breastmilk....

our pediatrician says a cup a day is fine. I treat myself just on the weekends lately as nothing beats a wonderful, delicious cuppa joe w/milk (ahhhhh you can tell my one vice huh!). Not sure how old you sweetie is-our recommended I wait until a couple of months old....but we had some major tummy issues at first.

Have a cup for me

double shot of espresso each morning. I also drank it through pregnancy. With my boys, I drank 3 cups each morning 1/2 decaf and 1/2 caf.

Edited: She's a great sleeper so far, too.

I didnt for awhile because it seemed like it was making Scarlett spit up more than usual. But one day I was absolutely feening for some coffee, so I had one small mug, and it didnt seem to bother her at all the entire day. That was about 2 months ago, and she has never had a reaction since. I know a woman who cant even have a chocolate chip cookie because her baby reacts to the caffeine in the chocolate!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh, I miss my coffee....And chocolate. If I have either, dd just screams for hours....it's horrible. She's 3.5 months so I'm waiting until about 5 months before I try coffee again. I usually only had one cup in the morning, but fortunately I cut back when I was pg, so I was somewhat used to it. As far as no chocolate well, that's hard, but you get creative with the occasional treat.

One cup every morning and sometimes one around 3 p.m. I also drank the morning cup throughout my pregnancy, although I did forgo the occasional afternoon cup.

Man, I gotta have my Diet Coke every day. I love it! I always have one, and sometimes two. I also eat (usually dark) chocolate every day, always have, always will, I suppose.

To all you pp-ers... I admire your ability to detect what intake affects your little bf-ers. My ds is 5 weeks old, and I can't link fussy periods to anything I eat or drink. I was never able to do that with my dd either. I figure, he's a baby, he's going to fuss sometimes, that's just the way these little people are! and I think I would go crazy trying to eliminate things one by one and monitor his every mood.

I have two cups of coffee every morning. I've seen no effects on DS at all.

I drink 2 mugs in the morning and often one in the afternoon, and often a coke also. I don't feel bad, it doesn't affect her at all. Chocolate does, though, it makes her spit up, so I avoid that. During pregnancy I gave up coffee for all of 5 weeks

I didn't drink any caffine while pg or nursing for almost the first whole year, since then I've started back on my coffee habit....I drink 2 cups a day now but I want more I do not drink any caffinated sodas tho.
It doesn't seem to affect my dd to me.

I have recently given it up. I drank single split shot lattes throughout my pregnancy (which I prepared at home) and then continued to try to drink it once DS was born. I am more sleep deprived than ever, especially with two kids now, but I realized it wasn't working for him. Even when I had a very little bit. I've given up all chocolate too, and even decaf. If I have any it makes him throw up. Caffeine is related to reflux in babies too. I would definitely be having it if it didn't make DS so unhappy. I miss it! Enjoy it if you can!

I allow myself one cup of coffee in the morning, especially if I'm at work (I work 3 days a week). I didn't drink any while I was pregnant, though.. the smell made me sick!
