Bottlefeeding propaganda to non-caucasians

I still can't belive this. I went to buy my son a doll today at TRU. This is one we've been looking at on the 'net. No bottle was ever shown with the dolls, and I purposefully chose a 'model' without the bottle/pacifier mouth - KWIM?

The store only had 2 of the styles, the blond/blue boy (which I wanted) and the dark-skinned girl.

The boy did not come with a bottle, the girl did.

I am still in shock over this. I looked through all the boxes to see if it was a mix up and all the boys had no bottle and all the girls had a bottle.

BTW, here's the dolls...they are Lee Middleton...I should probably write a letter or something. It also came in a PAMPER. Not just a sposie, but a PAMPER.

How odd!! If I were you I WOULD write a letter just to see what their reasoning behind it is if nothing else.

That's completely insane.. I think I'd be really ticked off.

Then again... my older niece (who was nursed for a while) used to pretend to nurse all of her dolls (after she "delivered" them from under her shirt... hilarious! :LOL). Some of them came with bottles; she would put them in the fridge and take them out, saying, "It's still leh (bm), but I got it out of my boobs with the pumper!" (Her mom used an Isis.) :LOL :LOL

T This same niece (who used to watch *way* too much Discovery Health) said to me while I was pregnant, "I think you should have your baby at home in a swimming pool, too! I want to see him coming out!" Seemed kind of insane to me, coming from a 5 year old. :LOL

That is really bizarre. Unless I'm getting you wrong, these are all pretty much the same doll, and the only one that comes with the bottle is the dark skinned one? Or is it all the girl dolls, including the white ones? Maybe it's a stupid sexist thing instead...you know, people will only buy boy dolls for a boy, and boys won't be interested in feeding babies or some other nonsense?

That really is weird. :

I was going to ask the same thing: do the white girls come with bottles? I wonder if it's a racist thing or a sexist thing.

Actually...they only had caucasian boys and dark-skinned girls so I don't know if it was Girls Vs. Boys.

Oh, no! :LOL

You can get breastfeeding dolls here:

http://www.naturalchild.com/shop/pro...eysuckles.html

The mommy doll has velcro nipples and the baby doll has a little velcro mouth. : )

You can choose skin color, hair length, hair color, and clothing color for the mommy doll and you can choose gender, skin color, and hair color for the baby doll.

Hang on, I found less expensive ones:

Oh, I LOVE those! If I ever have another baby that's gonna be dd's big sister gift!

Sorry- ot
My dd has one of the breastfeeding dolls. She also nurses all of her babies.

Kind of cute story- not long after I had ds, my breasts leaked often and I would catch the drips in a cup. Dd asked if I would buy her a bottle to feed one of her dollies with and I said- but bottles are for when mama's breasts don't work-- but she said- nope I am gonna fill it up with mama juice- See- and then held it near her tiny baby breast and said drip drip drip drip.
