Do you own a Britax Marathon and a van...?

I'm about to purchase the marathon and wondered if it would fit in our Chevy Venture (2003) that has Captain's seats in the middle.

I don't know about other vans, but the captain's seats in this one do not adjust forward or backward--they are stationary. The back of the chair, of course, reclines, but the seat part stays still. The Marathon is huge...will it fit behind the passenger front seat without having to pull the front seat uncomfortably close to the dash?

Yes yes yes! We sold my 4wd wagon and bought a Honda Odyssey just for this reason. The Britax seats (rear-facing) made me have to sit dangerously close to the steering wheel and its airbag. So now in the minivan, their seats are rear-facing still and me and dh have soo much room in the front seats. We could even push our seats backwards several more inches w/o problems. When we were car shopping, we brought the seats with us and put it in the car to see. Every minivan we looked at was A-OK, as were larger SUVs. The problem with the SUVs though was it was impossible to get into the 3rd row of seats without tilting or otherwise moving the 2nd row seats -- not a good thing when you have two!! So minivan was literally our only option, to allow enough room in front seats AND allow third row to be used by adults while two carseats are installed in 2nd row.

Roundabout, but yes. Fits great in the capt's chair.
