Fleece longies, shorties?

Do these work the same as wool longies?

Pros...Cons?

What kind of fleece if so?

Thanks.

I like them better. They breathe well, are great water-resistant covers, and you can just wash them with anything. They do need to be washed by the end of the day usually because they will hold in stink.

I use 1 layer MM fleece or even 1 layer of the thicker cheap Joann's or Walmart fleece (prints or plain). As long as my diaper underneath is not soaked they work great. If the diaper is soaked and my ds is in the carseat I do get wicking. But 2 layers of fleece is too bulky to me.

So can you make longies out of fleece? I guess you can, I just wondering why I haven't heard more about them, only covers. I just didn't know if there was a reason I don't see them more often.

I make pants out of fleece that I use as covers/longies...in other words I just use a diaper (prefold or fitted) and the fleece pants.

I make fleece longies and covers. I just use regular fleece from wal-mart and it works fine. I just don't trust them strapped in a car seat because of compression wicking but they worked overnight with a very absorbant diaper. I wash it seperate from the diapers though because it gets all crappy looking and pilly if I wash them together.

Here's some I made:

Sorry the pics are soo small, I resized them wrong.

I always make them a few inches too long, so they can be worn longer. You can also put elastic at the ankle, like sweat pants, so you don't have to roll them up.

So do you just use a regular pants pattern? Or is there a special diaper cover pants pattern? Does anyone know of one online? TIA

im following this one..... ill be trying to make some soon. curious about the pattern though. i bought a pair of homemade fleece NB pants which i guess could be dipe longies. anyway, the front was one piece-- both legs and front of waist. then the back was 2 pieces--each leg. so they were really trim in the front. i guess you could alter the width of the back 2 leg pieces at the top to make the butt bigger to accomidate the bulk?
does that make any sense??
if anyone is interested i could take a pic and we could figure out the pattern together, they really are a cool design.

I don't use a pattern at all. Here's the photo tutorial I used to show a friend of mine:

For the measurements, you need the baby's thigh measrement, the inseam, and the rise. For the width of the rectangle, you just double the thigh measurement. For the length, you take half of the rise and add about 3 inches (so it'll fit over the diaper and so you have room for the elastic), plus the inseam (add at least an inch for the cuff, more if you want room to grow). You want the stretch of the fabric to go width-wise.
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/100_1855.jpg

Cut the rectangle in half length-wise:

Cut up the middle of the fabric for the legs, making sure that you leave the right amount of length for the rise and the inseam.

Turn and sew the cuffs on the legs. You can do this last if you want and you can choose not to do it at all if you want to add elastic to the ankles later.
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q...a/100_1858.jpg

Sew the length of the legs, and up one leg, around the crotch, and down the other leg.

Sew your elastic. I take the waist measurement, minus about 2 or 3 inches for this.

Sew the elastic in the waist:

Turn them right side out and you're done! One pair takes me about 20 minutes this way. Wha's nice about it, is it does't have to be perfect, there's no pattern to mess with, no pinning. And I sew very close to the edge, so I don't have to cut away any seam allowance.

Those are too cute, and so are your models!
