Curdled spit up??

DS is 3 weeks old and today is the first time he has ever spit up. The first time, this morning, it came out of his nose and just now, it came out in a curdled blob?

Has anyone ever seen this? It's scary, I don't know what to do

Mine throws up curdled milk all the time. I've been told over and over that BF babies don't throw up curdles, but she does. And she's just fine.

The first time DS threw up it was like that. My pediatrician told me to sit him in his bouncy seat for a bit after each feeding.

my babe used to spit that up all the time. she was exclusively breastfed, too. It didn't seem to bother her. We called it "cottage cheese." As in, "gee, thanks for the fresh cottage cheese, Madeline!":

My kids both did that, usually after the milk had been in their tummies for a while.

yup, my dd did that for a bit as well but she grew out of it eventually. Congrats on your new arrival!

Mine does that too. Especially if she doesn't burp or throw up right after the feeding. I think as long as it doesn't seem to hurt baby it's ok (aside from the lovely laundry that it creates).

did your baby seemed bothered by it? I don't know for sure but it could be GERD if it's curdled like cottage cheese. But I think it would hurt too if it was GERD. My daughter spit up a lot but it wasn't cottage cheese consistency.

No, no pain at all. He doesn't even fuss when it happens but it's still clumpy looking

Totally normal. It gets curdy when the milk has been digesting.

Coming out the nose is normal, that just their underdeveloped physiology.

Curdled milk in spit up from my Ds meant an allergy to food in my diet, specifically eggs. We just brushed it off thinking it was normal. I don't remember what clued us in but we did a trial of me eating and not eating eggs and sure enough, I cut out eggs and he hasn't spit up like that in months.

Mine ds does this all the time also. He's a reluxy baby though, and I see a wide variety of spit up come out of him all day: pure milk, liquidy milk with curdles, super thick curdled milk, clear stuff with a little bit of curdled milk, all clear liquid. My day revolves around spit up
As long as he isn't bothered by it, I'd say it's fine and totally normal.

My midwife and doula both describe baby spit up as curded milk, no reason to worry!
