Can anyone help me * abscess tooth * ( NOT ME )

Chris just went too see the Endodontist this morning, and was told he has an abscess, and will have his root canal this friday.. They gave him Vicodin for the pain, and antiniotics for the infection.I have never in my 21 yrs of being with him see him in so much pain... I was reading about warm salt water rinses, but does not say how too mix them, so I was wondering if anyone here knows how i would go about making up a warm salt water rinse for him.. The vicodin has done NOTHING too kill his pain..The Endo told him he will more then likely HURT until the antibiotics kick in.. How do I do warm salt water rinse? Anyone here know.. I hope it is ok too ask this here, Iknow not baby related, but any help would be great!

Sorry for your hubby, that sux. You just put salt into warm water. If its not salty enough add more. I had a sore tooth last week and used a tea tree oil rinse, you just add a few drops into warm water. It tasted terrible but it helped b/c it numbs the area. Good luck to him.

A regular saline solution, like you might put up your nose is 1/4 teaspoon salt to 1 cup water. But dental rinses are generally done saltier, 1 teaspoon to 1 cup.

He did the warm salt water solution, Thanks too you ladies, for your help, and he feels much better... he says it at least becomes a dull throb ache when he uses this.. We are such babies when it comes too taking meds. We try not too take alot of harsh meds like vicodin, and such.. his anitibiotic i think has kicked in some as well. I think he will make it til Friday now *lol*..
