We really liked adoption connection in San Francisco.
We also ended up working with Adopt Help, an attorney in Los Angeles and Susan Romer in SF.

I've actually worked for 6 years as an Adoption Social Worker for Adoption Connection, so I'm a bit biased, but it is a great agency. I have worked for others and it is by far the best one I have seen in Northern California. Are you thinking Domestic or International? We do birthmom matches for Domestic, as well as outreach, homestudies and post-placement, and we also do International homestudies and post-placement, as well as tons of great support groups and workshops for adoptive parents in both programs. The agency has been around for over 25 years, so we have lots of connections with attorneys, facilitators and birthmom referral sources all over the state. If you are thinking of adopting a child of color, PACT (Oakland) specializes in that field and they are AWESOME, but we, of course, do that as well. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat further.
