NOT shopping at WalMart challenge

I have decided that my family will no longer shop at WalMart.
I would like to buy from local shops and get things in other ways than supporting Walmart.
The decision was made after I was watching an interview with The CEO of WalMart and he basically said if consumers did not like what we were doing- they would not shop there.
Well- I don't like walmart and I shop there.
So now- I plan to not like WalMart and NOT shop there.
the transisiton may be tough as we have always shopped there.
Anyone else NOT shop at WalMart or want to attempt to not shop at WalMart with me?

I don't shop there either. I don't agree with their practices, so I don't go there- ever.
Good luck with it.

Well, I haven't a principle against it, I don't do it regularly though, I hate shopping there, the stuff is junk, the store is dirty, everything is dishelveled and then of course there is the political aspect.

There is one very close to me, so its probably the most convenient multipurpose store like that. There is a target about 15 min away, but I much prefer that one.

The last time I went to walmart I picked out some stuff at the after chrsitmas sale but I honestly just got the willies even being in the store and just abandoned it and walked out.

So, I'm with you - walmart no more!

Count me in!!

I have been trying to avoid shopping there for many years, as well as Sam's Club. It's just depressing to be in a Wal-Mart, and their corporate practices are horrible. I'd love to see more folks use their dollar vote and force a change.

crumbs......I would totally have to get all over my dh about sams......he loves sams club. We have a big family and he loves buying stuff there.....but as far as walmart.....I would love to quite. I hate going there....it IS dirty!
I love target , but its really far right now....although we have TWO going up within 5 mins of me and shortly I will shoppin' at target! Its just a nicer experience. I don't do much shopping at NEW stores...mostly thrift...but if i have to buy new....its target all the way.

Me too! Me too! I really don't like Walmart, and they are building a new, huge one just a mile away from me. : But they won't be getting my money or support!

i refuse to shop there. the husband worked at a walmart for a certain amount of time and it was hell. they pay crap and treat their employees horribly, paying them pennies while raking in money hand over fist.
i admit i'm lucky, as i live in a big city with lots of options, so i don't have to go to walmart.

I try to avoid the place as well because of their practices, but also because I always spend extra money when I go there.

It's been over a year since we stopped shopping at Wal-mart. I was a big Wal-mart shopper and grew up going there for everything. At one point I was doing everything at my super-Wal-mart from groceries to photos to electronics and more. After learning more about the company their practices we quit cold turkey. We don't live in a large town and had to get creative on somethings and other things we just had to pay more for but it was worth it to us. You can do it, there's nothing at wal-mart that you can't get (and get with better quality) some place else.

Good luck!!

My company gives out $50 Gift cards to Wal-mart for x-mas. We re-gifted it to my mother.

We don't go there either. It's a terrible company and I want nothing to do with it. I live in a larger community where I have a lot of choices, though. It's really awesome to see those of you who live in small communities with limited options boycotting as well.

or sell it, you can get usually 90-95% value on ebay. And there is a gift card thread here at MDC trading post I think, though maybe not so much interest. LOL

I don't shop there. I get groceries from Target and Save a lot and produce from the farmer's market. I don't use alot of toiletries and cleaning products but what I do use is from Target.

I've not shopped at wal-mart in a long time unless I've needed something that could not wait until something else opened and it was 100% needed. There was a wal-mart trying to open in a city near here and the community shoot it down.
I like target myself and they have neater stuff anyway. The folks that shop wal-mart around here scare me from time to time and I worked at it a few Christmases ago.
But also I just remembered this back when I was 18 or so I was sitting in the parking lot eating my taco bell minding my own business with a friend while another friend ran in to get something and some guy jumped out of his car and pulled a gun on us thinking I was someone else! So wal-mart and I are not friends.
