Few questions about water birth supplies......

Is there room in the La Basine for DP?

does water spill out of this pool? http://www.qualityinflatables.com/56493.html

I like the Aqua dola,of course not the price, but if it is worth it I wont mind shelling out the money- is it really better?

I greatly appreciate any advice

Please see this thread sticky'ed to the top of the Homebirth section here

There's room for your partner in any of those pools, and water doesn't spill out of them.

I have the sevylor pool (60" dia) - and im a big girl i wont deny that and my fiance is 6ft tall (but not fat like me ) and i will tell you, its a tight squeeze. I am thinking that i probably wont want him in there when im actually pushing the baby out, cuz i will want all the room i can get to move around!! I think for the next baby - assuming i actually have this one in the pool - that i will get a bigger one (and deeper too)...

Thats kinda what I'm thinking... not sure if DP and I would be packed in the pool like sardines.. in that case it would defeat the purpose of him being in with me--to be comfortable This is my first HB/water birth and probably my last. I want to be able to kneel with my arms resting on the side of the pool and not worry about water spilling out. I did read the sticky and it was very helpful, I still think the aqua dolua would be great as far as DP being able to get in with me and water not spilling out, but not sure if it is worth the $

ya - we have been in ours a few time since its been inflated (waiting patiently for labor...haha) and if we arent careful we can make a pretty good mess.

Goodluck

An Aquadoula and an inflatable pool are the same height. I labored mostly in the position you described (on my knees leaning over the side of the pool) and no water spilled out and the water covered my belly up to my boobs.

I have read several stories here of mamas who have used both types of pools and said that the inflatables are much more comfortable, and that they couldn't lean comfortably over the side of an Aquadoula. I suppose that would make sense since the Aquadoula has a very thin, rigid material whereas the inflatables are firm but soft and are about six inches wide.

Thanks Stacy....I'm thinking the inflatables are the way to go- did you use a fishy pool?
Yes, in my first birth I used the large hexagon fishy (too large, ran out of hot water) and in my second birth 7 months ago I used the smaller, round fishy pool. It was perfect. No problems with water supply, temperature, or anything.

My friend IRL here gave birth recently (5 months ago) and she also used the small round fishy pool and loved it. She had rented an AquaDoula four years ago for her first birth, but she thought the fishy pool was more comfortable to labor in - not to mention much cheaper!

I have the small fishy pool, I found it to be just the right size for me, DH didn't get in with me though.. I am sure he could have but it wouldn't have been as nice.
