For those in dry climates

So I'm in Florida the humidity capital of the world!!! I gets tons and tons of mildew around my windows and sliding glass doors, is that something that happens in dry climates too?? Does it have anything to do with the humidity at all?? I know it has to do with trapping the moisture between the blinds and the window but I open my blinds everyday.

If you have lived in both a humid and dry climate can you tell me anything else that's really different??

Odd question I know, but I've lived in Florida since I was four, we're planning on moving to Texas which my mom swears is less humid that here and I want to know what I'm in for. I'm already excited to see how my hair changes!!! Good bye frizz!!!!!

Actually, I consider most of Texas pretty humid, especially in the summer. I'm from around the Kansas City area originally and didn't realize I didn't have fuzzy hair until I moved to my part of Alaska. It's dry here and now my hair is just wavy.

The humidity of the air has a lot to do with mold growth in houses. I've never had any problems with mold here. If the part of Texas you are moving to is really dry, be prepared for dry skin, chapped lips, static build-up in the carpeting. If you wear contacts, you may need to up your intake of water and use some drops. You just dry out quicker.

I'm in the midwest and it's a lot less humid than when I lived in the south (GA and TN), though people still talk about it being humid. I have the mold issue with my windows as well. I've even had mold and ice issues at the same time. I think it has a lot to do with how well your home traps moisture. I also open most of my blinds daily and still have issues. I did cover one window with that plastic stuff and it's done an amazing job at both keeping the room warmer and there is never and moisture or mildew there!

Thanks, after dh got home last night I showed it to him (funny how they would never notice some things) and he said it has more to do with us keeping the air/heat off for the past few weeks b/c the weathers been mild. He also thinks our home was built like crap so that's part of the problem.

Anyhow, my mom said the same thing about your skin drying out and that I'm probably have to start using lotion more I am not looking forward to that at all.

I do remember going to visit Texas one summer and being disappointed that it was pretty humid there, so I'll just have to wait and see when I get there.

Thanks agian!!
