From the mouths of babes

So we went out to dinner tonight and as we were waiting for our food Dh asked if he could please tell DSS. I had asked him not to say anything since DSS is very angry at the fact that he already has to share our attention with someone else. He doesn't want any more babies around.

So anyway, DH tells him and DSS looks right at me and says, "But you're not fat?" So DH chuckles to himself and says that the baby is still very small. It has to grow. I replied the pregnant women aren't fat, they are just bigger in the stomach in a different sort of way (he's been a bit harsh with the physical assessments lately ). He swallows his food and very seriously with a straight face (as much of one as he can muster..he's 6) says to me...

"Oh no, your stomach may get big but it's cause it's like ten inches of pure fat."

: Thanks.

Ok off to bed now!

That's what my reaction was. I just sat there thinking, "great when I do get a belly I'm sure I'll hear fat quite often."

He's on a roll thouhg. The other day a commercial came on for the "Original BeDazzler" and DSS asked if I wanted that. I was trying so hard not to crack up cause the commercial is HILARIOUS. So I swallow my laugh and say nope and you know what he says?

"Oh cause it's for prettier girls?"

I wasn't sure what to say at that point but it was enough to make me go do my hair and change my clothes. And all this after he told me to make another pretty face on Christmas.

coulden't help but when i read this thread... my 7yo is the same way about physical assesments. i have an almost 7mo babe too, and when i told him i was pregnant again he just looked at my stomach and said, "are you sure that's a baby, or is that just flab?" : well, it is a little flab! heck, i just had a baby 6 months ago! i don't even remember what i said in response, but i basically just blew the comment off.
