fleece wicks, repels.........what?

Ok, i need help with materials. mostly i'm tryin to find a material for liners that wicks away moisture from bottoms. I think it's fleece but, what kind?

and while we are on the subject, what kind repels? and what are great absorbing materials? and what materials are waterproof for covers?

I know all these questions have been answered a thousand times, but if you answer these for me, I promise, I won't ask again. I lied, I might. I just get so confused.:

Microfleece wicks, regular fleece repels.
I'm a big fan of PUL for covers. I also love wool covers. You can use Nylon for covers, but it's a good idea to test it first. I always make one test diaper when working with something new. Then you can see how it works before investing a lot of time and money.
Hope that helps

Hemp is a great absorbing fabric. I love my hemp diapers! I use fleece and wool for covers.

regular fleece repels??? Wow - I thought they both wicked! I had no idea there was a difference! Any idea why there is a difference?

I'm assuming regular fleece is referring to wool fleece instead of synthetic fleece. Wouldn't wool fleece absorb wetness if it wasn't lanolized?

here's what *I* know, lol:

micro-fleece or weather-pro fleece REPEL moisture, make great covers
wool and poly fleece ABSORB moisture (fleece makes a great liner)
Felted and lanolized wool REPEL

So,.........can wool fleece be lanolized to make it also repel?
And,........can't you not lanolize felted wool to make it absorb moisture (like as a doubler)?

in my experience, felted wool repels more than absorbs, depends on how "shrunk" it is!

Um, ok from what I have experienced, regular poly fleece can be used as an outer- to act as a cover. But it needs to be a good fleece. I personally have used joanns anti-pill fleece and have not had a problem with it leaking- it works pretty good for the outer of my pockets.
Microfleece wicks moisture away from baby's bum- as does suedecloth. I have never tried it for an outer. I am pretty sure that regular poly fleece wouldn't work well as an inner for wicking moisture away from baby, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't be for sure. Sorry I can't help when it comes to wool- good luck!

I *do* use regular JA poly fleece as a liner, works GREAT!
I do a double or triple layer of the same fleece for a cover, as well, no leaks!
sorry so short, NAK
