How much cramping is normal?

I know, I know- go to the doctor, that's what everyone is telling me! Well, the 2 people I've talked to about it.

But I can't got to the dr just yet, so I thought I would ask here.

I'm almost 5 weeks & I know this is about the time ectopic pg's are diagnosed, so I'm concerned.

I have cramping, which I didn't really have with my first two pg's. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd say it's a 3 or 4. What's worrying me is that it's only on the right side. It started last night, I went to bed feeling this way, and it was fine this morning. I assumed it was something I ate, cause I also had diarreah last night (sorry, TMI). Then it started again about 2 hours ago.

I'm worried, but trying to stay calm, as stressing out will surely only cause more trouble. I've drank more water than usual in the last hour or so, to see if that will help. So far, no luck.

Does anyone have any wisdom to share? I'm gonna go lay down a bit.

No wisdom to share - just going to say I just came on to post the exact same thing! Every detail is the same. I didn't have this much cramping with DD's pregnancy. I spotted for about a week between week 5-6, but no cramping with that (in DD's pregnancy).

Mine is also on my right side, but not in the abdomen (sp?), just in my back. Are you still nursing your toddler? I am and she has wanted to nurse more in the past few days with teething pains. Could that be the cause?

I have an appnt at the OB next Thursday. I wonder if I should see if they would see me before then?

Sorry no advice! (I think I am going to post this in the main Pregnancy forum here and see what other mamas have to say . . .)

The pain could be from a cyst. I had lots of cramping with this pregnancy but not localized. It wouldn't hurt to get checked out.
My first pregnancy was ectopic. It was actually brown spotting that went on for a week that indicated something was wrong for me. I never had any cramping.
Try to take it easy and call your midwife/ob today.

Thanks!

It's eased off a bit with drinking more water. ?? I was drinking plenty already!

daceysmomma- I am still nursing my 2 yr old, but she doesn't seem to be nursing anymore than usual. Sorry you're having the same issue. I hope it passes soon for both of us.

allbrightmomma- I'm about to call. Thanks for the help!!
