the huge amounts of christmas cards that you get every year? I want to recycle them but then I feel incredibly guilty getting rid of them even if a card is just signed with no personalized message.

Do you keep all your christmas cards or chuck them?

I keep my favs for scrapbooking and decoupaging. I read somewhere about cutting off the fronts and then using them as holiday postcards the next year---reusing paper and saving on postage! I thought that was a neat idea.

I keep/scrapbook the pictures that come at Xmas. Only cards I keep are ones with VERY special messages inside. In fifteen years, I've kept two of the typed letters - both because they were so funny (trying to be). I keep maybe two cards a year, plus all the photos. Everything else is recycled and I don't feel a bit of guilt.

Our school collects Christmas cards, and one of the big projects that the 4th graders do is they cut up the christmas cards into little squares (maybe 1/4"), and then use them to make mosaics! It's very cool. It's part of their medieval studies.

Other than that, I cut off the front and use them as tags on gifts.

I like the postcard idea.

I use mine as gift tags the next year. I cut off the fronts as I'm packing them away and recycle the backs right away. (less to store)

This is what we do. (Well, I'm not so organized as to cut of the backs before I toss them in the wrappings box, but maybe this year, seeing that we haven't put Christmas away yet. :

I scrapbook the photos, as well as any meaningful personal messages. (If Auntie Sue wrote a nice note in her card, for example, I will cut it out and stick it under a photo of Auntie Sue that either came in her card or that I took of her eating turkey on Christmas, etc.) But I just recycle the rest of the cards.

Wow. I feel kind of stupid for not thinking of any of these great suggestions!

I really like the mosiac idea. I was just thinking the other day that I need to come up with a new craft idea for my daughter.

Thanks guys.
