alarm for 4 year old--digital or analog?

My 4 year old wants a clock in her room. I was thinking something w/ an alarm so she could know that it is time to get ready for our day.

Is there any benefit to one w/ hands over digital? Thanks,

My kids all have digital clocks. It's easier for little ones to read digital clocks, I think.

We got our daughter a digital one. Not only is it easier to read, but it also functions as a radio, which is nice to have. She's a lot less surly if she gets up to classical music than she would be with a ringing alarm.

I don't have kids (yet), but I know quite a few 4-6 year olds with digital clocks. They're easier I think, and the radio is a great feature. With analog, batteries can be a problem and it's pretty hard to set the alarm time, so if you want your DD to be involved in setting it herself digital is probably better.

I had this same thought when buying a watch for dd. I went with digital so that I could also teach her how to tell time and a little math... as in 5 minutes from now what time will it be?

oooh, we got our 4yo a great digital clock (from IKEA, but I'm sure there are other similar ones out there). The best part about it is that you can record the message that it uses as the alarm. DS has fun just recording and re-recording things and then at nighttime we'll often sneak in and record something special. One of the things I like about it is that IF he happens to be sleeping well, it won't wake him up. Mostly we use it to remind him that he needs to stay in his room until it's time for the family to wake up.

Have fun!
