At school today in the pick up line I shared with another mom my son was adopted. She also shared her son was adopted and that she breastfed! The other moms were in line saying "how do you do that?" Boy did they get an education.

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

That's so cool! I had NO idea moms could induce lactation until I came to this board. My mother had certainly never heard of it (I'm adopted). You women rock!!!

I love it when I make an unexpected and positive adoption connection. The other day I was with dd in a tiny little bakery outlet. We are a conspicuous family--dd is from China and we are not, so mostly when people start to say something I cringe.
Anyway, this older man comes over and tells me how lovely dd is, and asks how old she is, and then asks if she was adopted. Instead of the usual nosey and ignorant crap, he volunteered that his son adopted a baby from Korea, and started in on what a great kid he is. The cashier then piped up that her daughter was adopted from the foster care system at age 13. The guy behind me chimed in that his niece was adopted from Guatemala. We had a little adoption coalition meeting right there in the store!

What a cool story EFmom! Our DD is from Guatemala and I lOVE it when someone will say she looks like me or DH. But then there are those who just blurt out, "is she adopted?" I always reply with, "Yes, she's our gift from God." It seems to give them a different insight.
Adoption is such a wonderful thing:-)
