You probably won't know this UPDATE: You did know this!

But I'm going crazy trying to remember!

10, maybe even 15 years ago I watched this VHS tape at my grandma's house that she had checked out from her library. Now I don't remember the title of it, and it's bugging me like crazy!

It's a sing-a-long, I think. At least there are songs in it. And it was starring this woman who had I think dark curly hair. I think there's a part where she goes from this world of black and white to this world of color. She might have kids that she takes around with her. I don't really remember.

And in another part there are these (old?) men and they keep singing the song "There was old man named Michael Finnigan" and because it had the line "Poor old Michael Finnigan, begin again" they had to keep singing it without stopping. The woman teaches them that they really can stop singing if they want.

Does anyone know what the name of this movie might be?

I would be forever greatful.

Did I mention it's driving me crazy?

I have no clue, sorry!

But maybe try the discussion groups at www.imdb.com I have found the name of every movie I've ever forgotten over there, they are really good at figuring out the movie you are searching for

yes sillyville! but it doesnt go from b&w to color... at least not on our tape. my kids LOVE that movie.

it does not go from black and white to color, but it goes from the "real world" to sillyville, which is much more colorful and exciting~~
all 4 of my kids adored this movie....to the point that i admit that on more than one occasion i hid the video for a few days("mom, where is sillyville?"..."gee honey, i have no idea!!" ) because i was going : from the songs!! it actually has a message of racial tolerance underlying in the story, because the green charecters won't talk to the yellow charecters who won't talk to the red charecters(and so on) and the kids who come from the real world have to teach them to understand each other~~

Does it have the scene with the men singing Michael Finnigan? That's the only song I remember for sure.

Wow,my mom used to sing a Michael Finnigan song when I was a kid, I had no idea it was from a movie.

There was a man named Michael Finnigan.
He has wiskers on his cinnigan.
He cut them off but the grew in again.
Pour old Michael Finnigan, begin again...

They always have that at Ross here! I think they have always carried it since I started checking out the children's videos 3 years ago. Not such a hot seller, I guess .
