I have one that I read in our school library over and over and over when I was a kid. It was a book of ghost stories (maybe 15-20 short stories), and one of them involved a boy riding to trumpet lessons or violin lessons or something on a bicycle in the rain. I think the cover of the book actually had a drawing of a boy on a bicycle.

Ok I have one. I read these books as a first grader in 85-86 but I know they were much older then that. Anyway, it's a series of fiction books with animals. I distinctly remember one book was about a blue jay. I believe they were chapter books.

Maybe Thornton Burgess stories. One of his characters was Sammy Jay.
