Two Thumbs up for The Electric Company!

I dunno if anyone else remembers The Electric Company from when they were a kid... but The Best of The Electric Company is now out on DVD. My kids are LOVING it. For those who don't know, it was a kids show produced by The Children's Television Workshop (same producer as Sesame Street), but geared towards kids who are learning to read.

We got it from Netflix, but after seeing how much the kids are enjoying it, I may actually buy it. Anyway, yes, it is a bit dated, but that hasn't phased my kids, who keep asking to watch new episodes.

Oh I am so excited that Netflix has it! I LOVED Electric Company when I was a kid. In fact my Mom says I learned to read at around 4 largely from watching that, well my Mom read to me a lot too, but there was something about that show that put it all together.

I just bought my son a DVD of the Electric Company from Overstock.com and I think it was only $10. He is obsessed with letters, reading, and words and the show is fantastic.

I love seeing Morgan Freeman, Bill Cosby and all the voices I have remembered for so many years.

Oh that is so cool!! I loved that show when I was a kid! I should order a DVD just for fun! I used to watch Zoom all the time too, but back then it was a bunch of hippie kids with long hair and bare feet! It's a little different now!

You can check your library too. My dh just found a 4 disc DVD set of The Electric Company at the library in the next town over. My son is ecstatic!
