Well, I might be more open minded about it now.

However - are all fathers portrayed as incompetent men who couldn't change a diaper if their lives depended on it? If it does then I still object.

ITA! It looks funny but I don't think I could put up with the 'men = idiots' factor (like those commercials - I think JC Penneys?). That is a huge pet peeve of mine. Maybe we'll just wait til it's on TV.

i haven't seen it, but maybe it's not so much that men are idiots, but that most men don't get to spend long periods of time alone with small children, and thus have no ^&*$#@ clue what they're getting into.

does the 3yo ask eddie to nurse? cuz that would be funny.

those commercials make me barf. "Where is your mother?" says the a$$hole as he reads his paper and the kid in the high chair bangs the spoons. Why don't you play with your damn kid, numb nuts???

I hate the whole portrayal of men as idiots, too.

Great PR!

That sounds great! But . . .what does Peggy think of THIS product placement??? (i.e. character reading Mothering)

ITA about the jcpenney commercials. FWIW Roger Ebert reviewed the movie and he didn't say anything good about it.

edited to add: do they make fun of the mom nursing that long? That is pretty much the only way I've seen ebf portrayed in the media (Scrubs, that Jack Nicholson movie).

I must have a tough skin because I didn't

get offended by it.
The ebf mom did say he had some separation anxiety as she had just quit nursing *but* she had also not too long ago divorced ...

I guess I looked at the movie from a different perspective. (Elphaba yest that was it no clue) I didn't really see them as total idiots. My dh himself says he has the "lost at home" syndrome. The dads were just at a loss since they were not usually there much with their work. And that is my dh. he works a LOT of long hours. When he has to take care of things around here it gets nuts because as he puts it " I have no clue what goes around here when I am gone"
(though he is trying as of late
And *I* did like the way the dads evolved over time to not only having a clue but being really involved with the kids.

Even if you DETEST this movie it was nice to see some AP stuff in the Mainstream.

That is so cool! I want to take Connor to see it 'cause I think he'd get a kick outta it!

Don't waste your money! This movie was so awful. I have no idea who their target audience, but it certainly isn't someone who is already a mama. And you barely see the cover of the Mothering magazine, not even really long enough to see the title (I knew it was Mothering from the boards). This movie was a dog.
