I'd prefer homebirths but birth center would be good too. My dh is in some desperate need of seeing some normal births and what to expect. We talked a lot tonight and I came to realize he has a lot of fear regarding our upcoming homebirth. He hates reading stuff and I think videos would really help him. He said he'd watch them anyways, so that's a start. So far I've only found one online...surely there are dozens more?

What about your MW? Have you talked to her? Maybe she has some videos you could borrow? What are his fears?

Well, I'm not sure that this is what you're after, but I did see a few natural births and birth center births at http://www.babycenter.com/videos/vie...questid=150552
You can also find a very few videos at http://www.birthdiaries.com/diary but it's more pictures than video.

Yes I'm definitely going to ask my mw. Dh can't come with me to my next appointment so I plan on talking to her about what I think his fears are and how we can both work to help him work through them.
So far I believe his biggest concern is that the only birth he ever witnessed was our son's birth which was a horrible induced hospital birth where he felt completely helpless. I found one very calm home water birth on the web last night and had him watch it. Afterwards he said he just couldn't believe it could be like that....he felt all birth had to be hysterical (as in chaos, not funny lol). He couldn't believe how long the time was between contractions for the woman and couldn't get over the fact that she "looked bored" when not pushing. I think the more videos he sees the more he'll be able to understand it doesn't have to be all doctors and screaming horrible pain. I tried to tell him last night that even when there is pain it can still be calm.

Your midwife should have some to loan you. There's one of Russian women giving birth in water that is really amazing. cant' remember the name of it, darn pregnancy brain, lol. The book Gentle Birth Choices comes with a dvd that has six births, some bc and some hb.
and there are a lot of birth stories online with photos - one of my favorites is this one - really shows the births clearly - http://www.shaunamama.citymaker.com/...mawelcome.html
