Hi-
Just wanted to share our latest being unvaxed story. Today got a call from a pal that my DD and I saw on 12/26 that her 3 year old, unvaxed step DD had been diagnosed on 1/1 with a serious eye and upper resp infection, that responded to abx. I totally played with this little girl. She was sick and cranky, with what I assumed was a cold. I fed her her lunch.
Last Friday she got a call from the little girl's anthroposphic doc, with culture results that it was a HaemophilusB infection. He suggested that my friend's little ones (ages 2 and 9 months) and also her big ones (9 and 11) all take abx. Her kids have all seemed under the weather (there are also some older step children who are taking abx)
So it's been 20 days since we were exposed, I think my ver petite 5 yr old DD is in the clear. She and I were both sick the first week of Janurary, we lost our voices. She was run down, but not remarkably so. I had noted that neither of my boys (9 and 11)got sick.
I do find it very interesting that it took soooo long for the culture to be confirmed. And I find it interesting that abx are being given to the family so long after the innubation period. But I guess with kids that little and a
family that big, it could be getting passed around.
If up to 80% of us carry this bacterium at low levels how does the vax work? Or does it just wipe it out within the body of the supposedly "at risk" vaxed baby or toddler?
I wonder was it a virus she and I shared? Or did she beat a HaemophilusB infection? She never had a very high fever or anything. I really don't think we need abx, she's better and it's been 20 days.
hmmm
