I refused my first vaccine today!

DD1 had her 2 yr check up today, and although I was told she was done with vaxes until right before school (I just recently started researching, luckily she hasnt had and reactions) the Dr wanted to give her the hep a vaccine, which they just added to the scedule. I told her i'd like to wait, and she said thats fine, but she would have to have it before school. Id like to homeschool anyways, but how hard is it to get the religious exemption? I wasnt sure, esp. since both girls have had shots, if i could get one. I also got the papers they give you to check out DD2s next scheduled shots, since her 4 mon checkup is next week. Can anyone get me a link to the dangers of the polio, dtp hib, and pnemonical conjugate vaccines? I have already desided I will not let her have another dose of the rotovirus vaccine, and probably not the DTP bc i had a bad reaction, but would also like info on how dangerous these illnesses are and how likely it is that she would get them living in the US. THANKS!

Hepatitis A isn't even required for school in Kentucky. This gives you a little taste of the ped lie/scaremongering that goes on.

I'll link up a thread with instructions on how to get a religious exemption in Kentucky. FTR, your state allows parents to pick and choose which vaccines they want to religiously exempt. I'll be back in a sec.

Way to go mama.
I don't even know why they vax for Hep A. It's almost as useless as the chicken pox vax. :

Almost all children who get hepatitis A are asymptomatic and then gain life-long immunity.

They told me at the 18 mon. that it would be added to the schedule soon, so today they said it would be required for school. DD is starting to have a good relationship with her doctor, and I think its bc she doesnt have to get shots anymore Do they need any kind of proof of your religion? I just jumped straight into the no-vax thing, not a whole lot of studying yet, I think it will be a long night. Have any of you read the papers they give out? It has death as a possibility for every disease, but of course no statistics.

You can get vax info on www.nvic.org. I love their email newsletters. I believe from there you can get links to your individual state's religious exemption form. Print them out (it's easier to have a stack in a filing cabinet ready to go if needed), bring them to any lawyer's or notary office and sign them there infront of the notary. They'll stamp them and no one can bug you about vaccines again. Generally you won't ever get grilled by the school or doctor about your religious beliefs, but you can also find a summary of things to spew out should you ever be challenged.

Despite what ANY state's law says "on the books" the US Supreme Court made a ruling that basically said you do not need to belong to any particular religion and do not need a religious leader's signature. Though you may have to "prove" that your beliefs are "bona fide". If you click on LI's name in a post, then click on "find more posts by LongIsland" you can find other posts in which she addresses this issue.

The exemption form link is not working in the thread and I can't find it anymore on the DOH website, but read the entire thread on KY exemptions anyway (it's 5 pages long) because you need to be prepared if you ever go down b/c you need a statement as well.
