Anybody Waiting A Good While Before Making The Big Announcement?

I'm only 5wks and have no morning sickness yet, so barring that symptom that makes my condition easy to guess I want to wait awhile before announcing to anyone. I'd like to feel like DH and I have our own little baby bubble right now and to be honest we don't have a great track record for announcing a pregnancy and everyone jumping for joy. Also, I know everyone is just interested but I get really tired of all the questions, especially the insensitive comments about natural childbirth. I'm in school right now and I don't need anymore stress than I've already got... Ideally I'd like to wati until I'm 5 months or so....

Anyone else wanna wait longer? How come?

We're not going to wait that long. That said - if I were in your shoes it makes sense to wait! Less stress is always a good thing.

ETA - Just read your other thread about what your grandmother's reaction was...I definitly wouldn't be telling her!

Yes, we just found out this friday night though i'd been suspecting a pregnancy for about a week. We are joyful, but to other we know the timing looks pretty bad and we just don't want to deal with the "oh I'm so sorry" and "what will you do??????" comments.
A few months ago i decided to leave my social work job working with young moms to focus on my work as a Doula and go back to school for midwifery .... my husband was doing very well in his business and we were sure we could succefully live on one income, then he got laid off!!! He is very capable at marketing himself so I'm sure he will bounce back quickly an find a new job. But this baby news is quite a curveball, so we're waiting to share the news with our family until they will be more supportive.

I'm sure he will find something soon. I'll be praying he finds an even better job! I know it's got to be scary right now but it will work out!

we usually wait until 14 weeks to tell family like grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, etc.

Yep, we'll be waiting quite a while to tell anyone - our parents, siblings, etc.... I'm a bit (ok, a lot) superstitious - with DS1 we told people at 13 weeks, and everything was fine; with our angel, we told people at 7-8 weeks, and that's about the time it passed away. So I'm pretty sure we'll be waiting a while with this one too.
