Replacing elastic in my pockets

I am sewing challenged and need all the tutorial I can get...

The elastic around the legs on my fbs is shot and I'm trying to replace it. How do I know how long to measure the elastic to replace? (please don't laugh, I really have no idea but have a friend who has offered to help.) Is there a "standard" length to cut the elastic?

Thanks!

Lay the FB out flat. Take a piece of elastic and hold one end where the elastic starts. Stretch it out so that it is pretty tight. Mark where the stretched elastic reaches the other end of the leg casing. Let the elastic relax again and measure. That is approximately how long your elastic needs to be. My FBs are made with polybraid, I recommend Stretchrite. Avoid the JoAnn store brand, it doesn't hold up.
