I need help with a pair of pants I'm sewing

I posted this on the sewing forum but there isn't a lot of action over there and I know you ladies can help me. I want a solution quick while my motivation is still up!
I'm sewing a pair of pants I cut out myself without a pattern. I wanted to allow more room in the back for diaper room so I cut the bottom crotch part of the back pieces larger than the front. But now that I'm ready to sew the inseams together, they don't match. The back crotch part is longer at the top of the inseam than the front pieces.
I probably just cut it out wrong, but can anyone help me? How do you cut it out so there is more room in back than front, and/or so now how do I sew it (or cut it and then sew it)? Should I have just cut the back pieces wider, but with the same rise look?
I can add pics if I need to I am just hoping someone will understand what I'm rambling about

Thanks!

I think what I would do (without ever actually having done it, so it may not actually work, I'm a trial-and-error girl) is make the rise the same on both pieces, but cut the outside part on the back piece just a little wider (you could do a very slight curve to those outside edges between the crotch and the waist on the back piece) Sort of like this, with the one on the left being the front and the one on the right being the back:

ETA- I can't say for sure it will work, b/c I haven't tried it, but it is what I would try first.

If I'm not too late and you haven't finished them yet, here's what I would do.

If the leg (inseam) of the front and back don't match in length, you will need to cut the crotch area (crotch seam) of the longer length to match the shorter length, on both back pieces. This is the seam that goes up from the crotch to the waist. Mostly you will be cutting the bottom part and tapering it into the previous (too long) seam line before you get too far into the vertical ascent. Typically, back crotch curves are a little deeper than the front, although for babies, it doesn't seem to matter as much because they have big bellies and usually not big bums, yet. So just cut them to match the front inseams. It's good that you made the back pieces wider for the cloth diaper bum.

If the crotch seams of the front aren't as long as the crotch seams of the back, that is okay. Most backs are longer than fronts to accomodate the bum.

If you are using a serger, you will not need to clip your inside curves in the crotch seam, but if you are using a regular machine, I would recommend sewing 5/8" inside of the cut edge, and then double stitching this (zigzag or straight stitch) between the 5/8" seam and the cut edge close th the first stitches. Then you may need to ease the seam by clipping up to, but not through the stitches of the second line throughout the curve, about every 1/2" or so for the curve to be able to stretch. The more cuts, the more stretch (ease). If your fabric is stretchy, you may be able to avoid the ease cuts, just turn it right side out and see if the crotch is puckering along the seam. If your crotch seam cut has no curve in it you will also need not clip/ease the seam.

Good luck. Hope this helps!
