Had scary day yesterday!

Whew, yesterday was a doozie!

I have been spotting for a couple of days, but I woke up Sunday morning with bright red spotting, and then I laid back down and felt a gush. I freaked out and went to the ER (by myself, DH had to stay with DD). I got an Hcg (98,000 ), I asked for a progesterone level, but they wouldn't do it : And then I had to FIGHT to get an U/S , although I kind of wished I hadn't gotten one. The "ultrasound tech" didn't see anything, or whatever that means. The doctor came out and told me that I was loosing this pregnancy and gave me a handout on miscarriages :

I was SOOOOO distraught Finally, later in the day, I figured I could all my work (L&D at another hospital) and ask a favor. I found a cool resident that was working and she said she could give me another U/S to see if she could find anything. We went right in, but had to wait around for 3 hours because it was so busy. We finally got the U/S and she found the sac and the little baby and possibly the heartbeat!!!! :

I'll be getting another Hcg on Wednesday to follow up. I'm just so mad at the ER staff for being so incompetent!!!! :

So, I'm still super paranoid, but at least I know, for RIGHT now, everything is OK.

How scary! I'd be a mess if I was in that situation! I would be writing a letter or calling the hospital head to discuss what happened.

: for everything to be alright! Keep us updated!

I hope Wednesday works out well for you.

I'm not sure how far along you are, but please know that I had an u/s at 5w3d and the doc gave me the miscarriage spiel too. At a follow up at 7w, the baby was there, strong heartbeat and all. My SIL had heavy bleeding during her preg that did not result in a loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Wow, what a orrible experience.
What bothers me about this (other than the obvious emotional stress it caused you) was
A) The stress could have brought on a real MC (BTDT)
b) Some woman would be upset and go home and have one or a few drinks, or even start smoking again if they had quit.
I would complain to the head of the dept. Unacceptable!
(((HUGS))) and best wishes!

I did get my levels back today, 103,000, not a huge increase, but it did go up nonetheless. It's just that the nurse that gave me the results didn't sound very optimistic And they're making me wait until next friday for another U/S. BUT, I'm not bleeding right now, so that's always a good thing. I guess it's the waiting game now. I HATE having this hanging over my head! I never had hcg levels drawn with DD, and I was just fine! I just need to try and relax and take it easy, ha ha!

Andrea,

Thinking of you! Remember, when it gets high, hcg doesn't double as fast and eventually kind of plateaus. 103K sounds nice and high to me.
