Making flat diapers, which material?

Cross posting this with diapering forum.

Last time I used prefolds (folded in third) with covers and also other variety like pocket's, fitted, AIOs - 1 or 2 of each kind.

But this time I'm thinking of streamlining using just flats and cover (& few other kind left from last time).

I was thinking of buying some but also wanted to make some. What material is good for flats?
I have seen birds eye but what else? Can hemp fleece be used for these?
TIA

I've made and used flats made from flannel and cotton pique, both were nice. I think you can make flats from just about anything. It does matter if you want to snappi or pin rather than just fold, not all fabrics snappi well. I think hemp fleece would be great as flats.
