in his tongue! he bit all the way through it. Dh took him to the ER and I stayed with my other 2 boys. They had to sedate him with ketamine. I am looking it up on google right now, but does anyone know if this was an ok drug for a 40lb 5yo? He is un vaxed and I made sure DH knew that he was not to get any vaccines. He called me to let me know about the ketamine, but I didn't even think to look it up or ask any questions. He got 5 stitches on the top and 2 on the bottom of his tongue. When he got home he was so out of it from the k, he was stumbling around and looking at me, but any movement he made toward me he would miss.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

Poor guy!
Sounds sooo painfull!
My moms brother did the same thing as a child.
I hope he feels better soon!
I found this:
Age restrictions
Ketamine is suitable for most age groups provided that the physician supervising its use is versed in its age-related effects. Laryngospasm and apnea are observed more frequently in infants younger than 3 months. In elderly patients who have coronary artery disease, catecholamine effects of ketamine may induce myocardial ischemia; however, no adverse outcomes have been reported. As previously discussed, recovery period reactions are frequently cited as a main reason for withholding use in adults, although the literature readily supports such use. Outside developed countries, ketamine is used without distinction for adult and pediatric sedation. One series found ketamine to be an effective single agent in 8000 patients, approximately two thirds of whom were adults (Green, 2005; Chudnofsky, 2000; Ketcham, 1990; Escarment, 1996; Stefansson, 1982; Lilburn, 1978; Bewes, 1984; King, Primary Anaesthesia, pg 60, 1990).
