Found a mercury free dentist!

I found a mercury free dentist in my metro area and he's even on my insurance! I wish I would have found him last spring when I was getting all of my work done. I had 2 fillings in my 2nd to last molars on the bottom about 3 years ago and they were composite. They weren't put in correctly and they both cracked and leaked and got cavities underneath. One needed a root canal last spring. I had that done and got a crown. That tooth has not caused any more problems, but it also wasn't infected at the time either so I think that helps. Not sure what type of filling is under my crown, but I don't remember tasting metal when it was done or smelling the mercury. So, I let the dentist convince me (more like insist) that I have all mercury fillings done in the other cavitities he found (teeth were not bothering me at all). So, in a period of about 8 weeks, I had a root canal, and 5 mercury fillings placed. The other molar that had the composite and now has mercury is hurting and leaking (I think). So, now I have to go get that filling removed and hopefully get a crown and not a root canal on that tooth. Great! However, I wanted to find a mercury free dentist to do it b/c I'm worried about them taking the old filling out and what it will be replaced with. My dentist that I was going to will not take any precautions as he firmly believes that mercury is not a problem.

I've been having tingling in my face (on the side w/ the filling that is bothering me) since the filling started hurting around Thanksgiving. I have also had weird random tingling throughout my body. I think it's the mercury. So, I go in Feb. to see this new dentist. I hope I like him and he knows what he is doing! It's all so confusing and I hate the dentist!!

Ooh, I hear ya. This dentist thing can drive you bonkers.

I was just going to suggest that if the mercury issue is a big concern to you (and it should be) that you make sure your dentist follows the IAOMT protocols for safe removal of the amalgam fillings. Apparently, taking them out without the proper precautions can give you a nice whopping dose of mercury for your body to try and process/store.

I found a mercury-free/metal-free dentist in my city who agreed to take out my amalgam fillings but he does not follow all the IAOMT safeguards (he won't provide a separate air supply for me) so now I'm having to look into seeing a IAOMT certified one who is 3 hours' drive away in another city. It's really inconvenient but I want these things removed carefully. So, just thought I'd say that just because the dentist is offering mercury-free services, does not mean automatically that they'll follow all the safeguards for removal.

Good luck!

I was getting the tingling in my face, and occasional spasms on the right side of my neck. I actually had a broken filling on that top right molar. I found a dentist here (referral from another mothering mama) and she actually pulled the tooth - there wasn't enough to do a crown but I was ok with it - just wanted it OUT. I haven't had any more spasms or tingling. I'm not as tired, either. I don't know how much of it is psychosomatic, but I certainly feel better.
