I found a mercury free dentist in my metro area and he's even on my insurance! I wish I would have found him last spring when I was getting all of my work done. I had 2 fillings in my 2nd to last molars on the bottom about 3 years ago and they were composite. They weren't put in correctly and they both cracked and leaked and got cavities underneath. One needed a root canal last spring. I had that done and got a crown. That tooth has not caused any more problems, but it also wasn't infected at the time either so I think that helps. Not sure what type of filling is under my crown, but I don't remember tasting metal when it was done or smelling the mercury. So, I let the dentist convince me (more like insist) that I have all mercury fillings done in the other cavitities he found (teeth were not bothering me at all). So, in a period of about 8 weeks, I had a root canal, and 5 mercury fillings placed. The other molar that had the composite and now has mercury is hurting and leaking (I think). So, now I have to go get that filling removed and hopefully get a crown and not a root canal on that tooth. Great! However, I wanted to find a mercury free dentist to do it b/c I'm worried about them taking the old filling out and what it will be replaced with. My dentist that I was going to will not take any precautions as he firmly believes that mercury is not a problem.
I've been having tingling in my face (on the side w/ the filling that is bothering me) since the filling started hurting around Thanksgiving. I have also had weird random tingling throughout my body. I think it's the mercury. So, I go in Feb. to see this new dentist. I hope I like him and he knows what he is doing! It's all so confusing and I hate the dentist!!

I found a dentist here (referral from another mothering mama) and she actually pulled the tooth - there wasn't enough to do a crown but I was ok with it - just wanted it OUT. I haven't had any more spasms or tingling. I'm not as tired, either. I don't know how much of it is psychosomatic, but I certainly feel better.
