Just quickly checking in to let you all know that we had a little girl!
Molly Luna was born on Sunday, January 14th at 5:47 p.m. She weighed 7 lb, 10 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. We were planning a homebirth, but ended up transferring (non-emergency) to the hospital after 28 hours of labor because we discovered meconium. I labored for 12 more hours there, including being stalled at 8 cm for 4 hours and needing some Pitocin to make the last 2 cm. All in all, I had as close as possible to a homebirth in the hospital as one can have--dim lighting, quiet, laboring in any position, full respect for our wishes/birth plan, etc. Our midwives were present in the labor/delivery room and actually worked with the OB on call. Molly came out pink and healthy and did not need deep suctioning. It was the most exhausting, excrutiating, intense thing I've ever done. I'm so proud of myself for avoiding the epidural and pushing her out all on my own when I was so completely spent. I have a 2nd degree tear and lost a good amount of blood, but we are resting well and falling in love with our favorite new person.
