OK, sorry for the novel
It wasn't that long ago that twins were just a normal variation. My dh is an identical twin (and born in 1974 fwiw) He was the bottom twin (baby A) and was breech. His brother was vertex. They were a normal vaginal delivery. A section was never discussed.

good luck!

Well add this to your visualization!!! That you will have a caring and confident practitioner if you need one to assist you. One that will assist you in the birth you want!

My OB will do second breech, but not first. And, I do have a chiro who will turn breech babies....in fact the Webster technique worked for me at almost 37 weeks with my surro-daughter!

Hey girls! How is your weight gain going? I was told I'm not up to snuff. Apparently we should have gained the number of weeks pregnant we are plus a little. So I'm almost 15 weeks, I should have gained 15-20 lbs already!?!? Are you on track? Weight gain on a high protein diet is the number one predictor of healthy and heavy close to term babies!! Sooo just when I think I can't stomach one more bite.....one more!

No idea yet. I find out tomorrow. 4 weeks ago, I was still down 2 lbs. I am hoping I have gained a bit. Most peeps have said it doesn't look like I have gained anything except in my belly. Never thought I would want to be gaining weight, but it makes me nervous not knowing if I have gained enough.

17 weeks... gained 7 pounds. Not good, but at least I'm now gaining when I wasn't before.

As for care providers... been asking around and it seems there's no better option. In fact, I spoke w/Dr. T (see above post for explanation about him) and he said that since this is my 3rd birth, twins are usually a little smaller, and even if both are breech, a vaginal birth should totally be OK. I attended his workshop on waterbirth and he did say waterbirth for twins is iffy depending on other factors. BUT overall it depends on my choice of careprovider since he won't be available His c-section rate is 3%!!!! I wish I had him on videotape because it's rare to hear an OB say the things he said, such as "obstetrics is the #1 medical profession that practices the least evidence-based" WOW He's more like a midwife!

So I emailed my midwife coming in July. She's willing to do a homebirth but *I* have some reservations about that, including, will she have pitocin and oxygen? Didn't have oxygen for DS's birth and we didn't need it, but my understanding is that the 2nd twin or breech baby is more likely to need it. What is her experience with breech if one flips back? Also, to transfer is minimum 45 minutes.

SO, do I continue on with my UC plans? I really really want to, but now I feel more confused than before.

Back to my mantra!

Sounds like the OB is really supportive. I okay with UC, but I'd be uncomfortable with a 45 min transfer time! I'd say if you have reservations, then don't. You need to believe and be on board 100% to be centered and make it work. But, that's just me! I was planning a UC with ds #2 and when I ended up having some visual problems and feeling badly, so I ended up with a hospital birth that itself was just fine. And, he was very ill after birth with pulmonary hypertension. In the NICU for 3.5 weeks and on the vent. We definitely have transferred if he was born at home and I can't help thinking it would have been a big traumatic mess and I'm so glad I listened to my body/self and went to the hosp after all.

Heyyy girls....how is it going??

I have the 'big' US in about 10 days and can't wait to see these little jumping beans again!

Other than that...uneventful...nothing much going on! How about everyone else?
My previous post said 17 weeks, gained 7lb.

Now I'm 21 and gained 18... big jump, but then it's a big bump too! Went in for a 20 week appointment... having 2 girls. Also talked with my OB, the only one who would allow an attempt at vaginal birth IF both babies are vertex. Why would I go to the hospital for that though? Not sure what we're going to do. I feel quite healthy. Oh, and my iron levels were the best they've ever been for any pregnancy. Though I've been told they'll drop the most between 20 and 28 weeks, so I'm upping my Floradix supplements.

Other than that, just been busy watching my kids, collecting CDs, etc.

I have gained a total of 6 pounds. Not huge amount, but I am overweight to start

I had the level II u/s. Babies looked great! Measuring nearly exactly the same on EVERYTHING. This totally amazes me. They have done this since the begining. Two girls. Two sacs. Two placentas on opposite sides of the uterus, but still exactly the same? Makes me wonder if they may still be identical? We will see in a couple months

Baby A seems to be the least aggressive of the two. She often wakes first and her stretching/moving wakes her sister. Then her sister gets upset at the intrusion of sleep and proceeds to pound the heck out of little A B has also always been the camera hog, while A always hides. It will be interesting to see if that is really going to be their personalities or not.

My iron has turned out to be quite low, so I am now on the extra supplements. I was so weak and sick two weekends ago at work, I thought I was probably finished. I went to parttime instead of quitting and started the iron. This weekend was 110% better at how I was able to function.

I am 21w5d. And really starting to get excited about the future arrival of these little ones!

Congrats to everyone for a healthy pregnancy so far!!!

Whoohoo! We're all doing great I don't have an appt until next Friday, but I'm about 19w today.

Aurie, these babies are NOT identical as they were via IVF and we'd transferred three embryos and got two, but they are always exactly alike! Even heartrates! I mean I suppose they 'could' be identical as one could have split, but the chances aren't great kwim?

Yay MamaRabbit! CD's for two hehehe that is double the fun!!

Can I join in here?

I'm mostly a lurker when it comes to message boards, but I'm glad to have found others in my situation. I am 20 weeks along-due around Aug 12th. Just found out we are having twins at my prenatal appt last week. I had a huge jump in fundal growth and cnm did a quick ultrasound just to check. Wow! 2 babies! : Totally unexpected. Not something I ever considered.

The "big" ultrasound is scheduled for next week, so we can see how the babes are doing. Despite being completely overwhelmed, I am concerned b/c I have not been eating extra protein for 2. I was probably getting 70-80 before. I'm getting somewhere between 100-120 now with high protein foods/snacks and milk. I just can't take in anymore. I'm stuffed most of the time. Definitely no room cravings. Bleh... Anyway, I hope they are doing okay and it won't cause complications.

I may also have to change providers since this will also be a VBAC and makes me "high risk" to the medical community. I'll "discuss my options" with my cnm next week. I wasn't up for discussing anything after the ultrasound last week.

So much to take in all at once. Plus, we're buying our first home and moving in the next 2 weeks. Ackkk. Life is stressfull all around.

Thanks for listening!

Congrats and welcome to the board! It took me a bit to get excited. Don't worry if you suddenly find yourself freaking out. It is totally normal
post #54 of 474
Aurie, mine were measuring exactly the same, too. Wow all that movement. I hardly feel mine, but I have a lot of placenta in the front blocking them.

ETA: I think it's fabulous that all of us are doing so so well carrying our babies. So many women have problems by now, but we must be doing something right!

Welcome to MDC!

I was sitting on the couch noticing some movement and all of a sudden, a little hard lump came up right under my belly button. Don't know what body part it was, but it was so neat!

Welcome Star! I have a partial previa, but I'm really hoping it will be moved up by the time of my next ultrasound this week!

Oooh movement! I've noticed a few little bumps every few days....maybe bumps...but not much 'real' movement. It's funny, because I've felt it earlier and more distinct in my singleton pregnancies.
