What's going on with Organic Pastures' milk?

So, my OP whole milk is about TWICE as thick as ususal. I can't drink it and my DD keeps saying 'wan MY milk!" and then drinking it reluctantly. Oy!

Are the cows pregnant or something? The taste is different, too...

I have 3 containers and they are all like this.

Why don't you just call and ask them: 1-877-RAW-MILK. They might have some explanation for you.

where do you buy raw milk? closest places to us are about 30 min away so we have only gotten it once tho i SO believe in it. I don't actually drink it but DH does (i hate milk!) but use it for cooking.

I've not noticed a difference,...I just bought a Jan 27 dated bottle today but haven't opened it yet. I'll post again after breakfast.

Mine seems normal in consistancy, perhaps slightly less cream. The taste is a bit different, like artichokes maybe. Since they eat grasses the available grasses will change with the seasons, and the flavor would logicaly be reflected in the milk. I grew up near there, there is a variety of thistle (Relative of the artichoke) that starts growing wild about this time of year. It does not develop its thornes for another month or so. I imagine it is possible that the cows are ingesting it, or some other winter grass that is causing the flavor difference.

I have a bottle dated Jan. 29 that actually seems a bit thinner (less creamy) than usual - maybe their bottling equipment isn't calibrated right and they're not getting consistent cream levels, some getting too much, some not enough. And the place I buy it didn't get any cream in the delivery this week. Years ago (like 4, when they still were using glass bottles), I got a batch of OP milk that was way, way, way creamy. I loved it, but it was obviously not how it was supposed to be.

I have notcied that starting in the late fall the milk got creamier. I love it actually.
I just got some Jan. 30 milk last night .It tastes a bit creamier than "summer milk".

Well, no reply to my email from OP yet (I'm not into making phone calls!) but I'm pretty sure the milk we got was clabbered. It must have warmed up at some point in the delivery process and the good bacteria thickened it and ate up the sugar. So now I've got the rest of it in the oven making yogurt!
