Ack! I can't believe it. Louis is trying so dang hard to crawl. A few days he scooted backwards, but today he went backward a lot and then later in the day - did the same thing. Nnnnnoooooooooo - not yet! He gets up in the crawling position and rocks back and forth and then goes backwards. I know he's not ready to crawl yet, but I'm not ready for this even! *sniff, sniff*

I was wondering when we'd see a thread like this. I'm so excited to see this happen. We were visiting some dear friends in the Netherlands when their son was at this stage and it was so stinking cute!

So, today I laid him on the floor (kids were playing in that room), come back and he is forward about a foot. "Did you guys move him?" "Huh?" "Louis. Did you move Louis?" "No." "Are you sure?" "Huh?" (This was the 5 and 3 year olds.) "Did you move Louis at all since I left a few minutes ago." "No." Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................................

Oh my we had exactly the same conversation in our house this week. I layed Ian on the floor next to his sis (5yo) and went to the bathroom. When I got back he had flipped onto his belly and spun 3/4 of a circle from where I had left him. I did the same thing and asked her if she moved her brother she was shocked that I would ask her. She said "he just did it mommy I promise, I didn't touch him" I was just so surprised that he had went that far, my brain couldn't figure out him moving that far in such a short time.

WOW. Neither of my boys ever crawled at this stage. They waited until they could get up to sitting on their own, then lean forward on their arms from there. I think it's because they've all hated being on their tummies. Ryan was 10.5 months and A.J. was 8.5 months when they crawled. Nate has only just this week gotten to the point where he will roll to his tummy and not freak out.

My first did NOT like being on her tummy. The other two were okay with it. I was really surprised how much Louis loves to be on his tummy.

He went forward! I saw it. Little stinker. He went forward then he fell over and looked up and me and giggled. Too cute.

That's what got me too. My dd hated being on her tummy and didn't crawl till she was almost 1yo. Ds gets frustrated after awhile on his tummy, but in general he doesn't mind it.

Stella scooted backwards yesterday!! She has really taken to tummy time lately, and prefers it even to being held in my lap. So I put her in the co-sleeper for a minute last night while I brushed my teeth, checked on her halfway done, and she had scooted all the way to the bottom of the co-sleeper! She did it again today on the floor. She has mastered pulling her knees up underneath her like she wants to go forward, but her chest is till flat on the floor, so she ends up burrowing down into the blankie or whatever she's on. Then she'll push up on her arms and look around like, I'm still here? How long before she figures out her arm and legs need to move togather?? SO fun to watch!

I just noticed Erin do the same thing today in her crib! She used to hate being on her tummy... then kind of did the walrus thing where she arches her back & flails her limbs... just a couple weeks ago started pushing up w/ her arms... & now apparently is using her legs!

Today I repeatedly found Nate in different locations from where I'd left him. Uh-oh! I guess rolling and spinning can get you places too. :

It's Lou-iss, but he gets call Lou-ee a lot. We sing Louie, Louie to him all the time. Since no one knows the words to it anyway - we just make up our own!
