Water Kefir Question - need an answer quick

I just picked up some water kefir grains this morning and will be going back to work in an hour. I don't have the things I need to make kefir right now. How long can I let the grains sit before using them? Should I be "feeding" them? Where should I store them? TIA!

They are probably fine today in whatever condition if it's cool. They need to be in a sugar water solution -- about 1/3 cup sugar in a quart or so of water. If they are in a solution now, just pour them and the solution into a jar with the new sugar water.

Thank you! Just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong - I'm using a washed-out liter wine bottle, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and a quart of water, then transferring the grains into the wine bottle. Does that sound right?

ETA: Well, it's time for me to leave, so I'm going to do it just like I said above. I hope I don't kill them!
