Best online place to buy tea, herbs and spices?

I'm having a hard time saving money on these items. My co-op is too far away to be a deal, so I'm looking online. Any advice?

Thanks!

dreamabouttea.com for chinese teas. A couple run it in Evanston IL, but they are Chinese and grew up in the tea growing regions there.

The Spice House for spices...they are online as well as having 2 store fronts

Thank you for the links!

I just checked out dreamabouttea.com, and I wasn't impressed with the prices...they're about what the local tea houses charge for bulk tea (NYC). Or maybe I just haven't bought it in so long that I'm out of touch, lol.

So...I'm still looking. I don't need fancy selections, just cheap tea!

Off to the spice house!

I love Mountain Rose Herbs. AND, your purchases there result in 10% going to support this website! Everybody wins. They have a huge selection of herbs, teas, spices, natural body care products, and lots of other wonderful things. See this thread for more info: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=Mountain+Rose

Frontier. Jump on one of the many coops on the mdc coop board.

I second Frontier. My neighbor runs a Frontier co-op and we order every few months. There is no minimum order, but if you order $300 the shipping is free, so we just save up our orders and order 2 or 3 times a year. I didn't know there was a Frontier Co-op on Mothering.com. That is pretty cool. Anyway, it is a great place to buy herbs, spices and tea. They also have really great prices on many other products, such as soaps & shampoos, homeopathics, etc.

I buy lots of tea for making kombucha and the best place I've found is eBay. I got 100ct boxes of Black and Green teas for $5.00 each once, and that included shipping. I haven't been able to find it for that price again, but I finally got the same thing for $6.00, so that's good.

i like adagio because you

can get a sampler tin for $2.00
While I know sometimes that is too much, if there is a flavor that you think "hey sounds like it might be good" you can get the sampler and try it first. Sorry for the run on sentence.
The $7 tin lasts several months. Unless of course everyone else decides they like one of your flavors
When you order you can send a friend a $5 gift certificate to try it and they can send it back to you down the road

If you are east of the Mississippi River, Atlantic Spice
If you are west of the Mississippi, the sister company is San Francisco Herb Company

I have ordered from them many times and always been happy with their prompt service and the quality of the products. The minimum order is $30 and you can only buy 1 lb quantities, so you might want to find a friend to split with.

This may only be useful if you're a spice fiend and majorly into cooking at home, but I am in love with www.thesavoryspiceshop.com, and with their brick and mortar store in Denver.

They're not always the cheapest price-wise, but if you buy a lot of exotic spices and ingredients for ethnic cuisine, they're pretty much the only place I can find that reliably has what you need and has a decent price on it.

For more mundane things, have you checked your local asian grocery? Since people who make ethnic cuisine tend to use more spice in their food than white-bread american food does their prices are nearly always lower and quantities higher.

I second Adagio. I love their teas.

I also like Adaggio--it's fast delivery (I think they're based in NJ), the sample tins for $2 are great, and there's those $5 certificates.
