How do you make yourself let go of them?

I just try to think about other people that would like them more. Or I donate it to the library then I can check it out if I really want to again. BTW I've probably donated over a 100 books and only gone back looking for two.

I just donated 2 book shelves full of books

(think 3 shelf small $15 K-Mart style bookshelf).

I looked at each book and noted that they had not been read in a year or more. I kept a book if it was OOP otherwise I'm using my library! Mine is great in obtaining ILLs for me!
