Hello, I had my third child on Christmas morning, our third unassisted birth. We had him in water and he was a good healthy size 9 pounds 4 ounces. I layed low and rested lots for the first week and a bit, my mom was in town to help out, it was a blessing!! By week three my lochia had stopped and I was feeling good. Then I started getting these wicked cramps, just like after birth!! Im tandum nursing, and I know my uterus is still clamping down trying to return to its normal size, but I had never had cramps like this so late after birth. Has anyone had something similar? Thanks

Not sure if it will help. But I have found that my after-pains are much more intense with each baby. So for me that would be normal. Also, I have a visit from AF anywhere from 4-8 weeks after birth (I never get a break) and usually have crampy contraction like pains a week or two before that happens. So again, it is normal for me.
If it feels like your uterus is clamping down or any type of contractions, I would personally not worry about it. Unless you have other symptoms of harsh, unusual pains or a fever or excessive bleeding.

I can't say what you're going through... but my afterpains with my third and fourth child, especially while nursing were excrutiating. I'm expecting the same this time around too.
Sorry!

With my 3rd, I still got some intense afterpains weeks after her birth.
I did have a uterine infection on a totally separate occasion a year later though.
Do you have a check list for uterine infection? Here, I'll copy/paste one.
- Flu Like symtpoms
- Foul discharge
- Fever over 100.4
- Pain

my ds was 10 lb. 11 oz. and born at home (sept. 06.) i had bad afterbirth cramps for days, then occasionally, they'd happen again at random times during the next few weeks.
for up to 4 weeks after the birth, i experienced really bad round ligament pain. my entire belly would ache for hours, usually in the evening.
i hope you can get some rest. when i had the aches and pains after ds' birth, i always read it as a sign to slow down and stay in bed.
good luck and congrats!
