I have one of those solid radiant glass cooktops, and I just ran out of the special cream they gave me for cleaning it. I'm sure I could buy more, but I figure a special cleaner isn't necessary...does anyone else have a cooktop like this, and if so, what do you use to clean it?

Cleaning glass cooktops?

I use the special cleaner (Sears has it) because a friend also has one that she cleaned with regular stuff like she uses for her counter tops (spray, sponge, etc.) and the shiny coating wore away and now everything sticks to it and it looks very dull. Mine is 4 years old now and still looks like new. I'm assuming the cleanser is doing it's job.

My MIL uses BarKeeper's friend powder, she claims it doesn't scratch the surface, but since my stove is brand new, I am going to be buying the special cream when my sample runs out. Call me a chicken!!!!

My Oma has had her stove like that for about 8 years and she uses SoftScrub--it still looks brand new and just a tiny little bit does it each time, then she wipes it dry with a towel after for no streaks at all.

I was watching a science show that was looking at chemical cleaners and giving tips for using natural cleaners....anyhow, to remove grease and grime from stove tops without harsh chemicals and to avoide scratching, he sprinkled cream of tartar and then sprayed vinegar over it. He let it sit for a few seconds and then with a soft sponge rubbed it around and then wiped off. It came clean. I tried it, it worked!
I have a glass stop stove as well, it came with the house. I had no idea how to clean it, so I've just been using my regular vinegar, dr. B and water solution. It doesn't seem scratched, but it did have a ring around where the range gets hot. I tried the trick above and it worked.
