Toddler teeth are yellow + first dental visit?

Over the past month or so, the bottom 4 or 5 front of my DD's teeth have yellowed somewhat. We haven't changed anything in her diet or with her vitamins so I assume that it isn't that. Any ideas what it could be? I'm tempted to take her to the dentist but DH thinks we should wait the 6 months until she turns 3. I really don't want to wait and then have it turn out to be cavities that we might could have prevented by going early but I also don't want DD to have a bad associations with going to the dentist by taking her too early. We try to be proactive and we try not to go to the doctor/dentist for every little thing...

Any ideas about what this could be? Any similar experiences anyone can share with me?

My DD had some gunky, yellow junk on her top teeth at 2. I took her to the dentist and she got her teeth cleaned and it all cleaned off. The visits are not a whole lot of fun at 2 for some kids but I'm not sure waiting 6 months is going to ensure a stress free visit either.

Do you have a pediatric dentist in your area? I think it is worth finding one for a toddler.

I started taking dd when she was about two and I made it as fun as possible. She is now 10 and loves going to the dentist.

Thanks - we ended up taking her to the dentist and it was just a little build up of plaque. Apparently, it was no less (or more) traumatic than dad dropping her off at daycare afterwards!
