Yoga question

I got some yoga dvds for Christmas, and I have seen a warning message on a bunch of them, but no explanation.

They warn that menstruating women should not do inversions.

Can anyone explain that to me?

Some yogis believe doing inverted poses interferes with the flow of blood during the menstrual cycle. Kind of like sending it the wrong way. You are probably the best judge of if it's okay for you.

Thanks for the explanation.

Acctually, the flow of blood is much less of a concern than the flow of energy. This explains it way better than I ever could though:

we had a lengthy discussion about this in the January yoga thread: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...=587178&page=4
