I'm not sure about side by side vs. top freezer/ bottom freezer but if you go to an appliance store they should have the energy ratings listed on each fridge. Sorry I'm not much help, lol, now I am musing about this! NOW you've done it!

I have just been researching this as we are getting a new one soon. I want a bottom freezer model & these are in the middle. I'm not sure why they'd be any worse than top freezer models, but that's what they say. Side by side are the worst, maybe because the freezer section is so much bigger?
