Computer's and radiation exposure

Basically, I want to know three things:

1) Do computer screens emit radiation, the way a t.v. screen does?

2)Does an LCD screen emit radiation?

3)If yes, then would a larger computer screen mean more radiation exposure?

We are buying a new computer. Ds spends a lot of time on it. I'd like to go for the 17 inch LCD screen. I don't want to increase our exposure to radiation though, just for a bigger screen (currently have a 13 inch traditional).

Yes to #1 especially the CRT screens.

Some to #2, not nearly as much as CRTs.

I don't know about #3. Will ask my computer guru.

P.S. It is worse from the back of the screen, from the "box".

I was beginning to think no one would respond to this, which was weird since we are all using computers here!

Thank you for the info!!

Okay, you said the radiation comes outof the back "of the box". We are looking at a flat *panel* screen. It isn't a box, just a thin screen on an arm attached to a base, which is the actual computer (it is the flat panel iMAC).

So do flat panels emit less than flat screens "in a box"? I know you said you had to ask your computer guru.

Does anyone else know? I really want to lower our radiation exposure as much as possible....

I'm bumping this because I want a solution too! We just bought an eMac (couldn't afford the iMac heartmama, I'm jealous!) and I LOVE it.

But it's making me sick. Most specifically, my eyes can't take looking at the screen for more than 15 minutes a day, even when I sit about 3 feet away. So I need some sort of screen or filter or guard, I know they sell them, I just don't know where to begin. The google search I did pulled up a few cheapo-s that I know are the equivalent of $1.99 sunglasses, and other items that run into the hundreds-- out of our price range, of course.

So, since we're obviously all computer users, has anyone got recommendations? Or "caveat emptor?"

Thanks! *hoping this will get replies*

Xmas eve, could it possibly be your screen's resolution that is making you sick? I used to get sick when mine wasn't set correctly. Also, if there is another electical source (such as a printer) too close to your monitor, it can through off the display. Just a thought -- maybe call Mac and ask them to help you reset the monitor (or maybe you've already tried that).
